WHERE DO YOU HOLD YOUR WORKSHOPS?
Most of our workshops are held at our brick and mortar location, The Rustic Orchid Creative Workshop, at 111 N Rochester St. Mukwonago, WI.
We occasionally hold events at local wineries, churches, restaurants, businesses, and do private parties at homes.
DO YOU HAVE SPECIFIC TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS?
The shop owner, Amanda, has been creating signs and other home decor projects for her business Luxe Loft for the past 7 years. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design as well as Marketing.
All employees at The Rustic Orchid have been extensively trained to teach workshops and also have backgrounds in sign making, full time crafting, or the fine arts.
WILL I GET MESSY?
We recommend everyone who comes dresses appropriately for using tools, paint, stain and sandpaper. You may get a little messy, so keep that in mind when you choose your clothing. We do provide aprons, so that does help a little!
ARE YOUR PAINTS AND STAINS SAFE FOR ME AND MY KIDS?
YES! We are huge advocates for using natural, low VOC, or organic materials when possible. All our stain and paint is NON-TOXIC and safe for everyone to use. No bad smells and headaches, and no harm to people or the environment!
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR YOUR WORKSHOPS?
Kids are welcome if they conduct themselves in a safe manner in the workshop. We do have paints and stains out on open shelving, so if your child is not at an age of self control yet, it might not be best to bring them for an adult workshop. We recommend having someone watch very young kids so they can stay safe and our workshop can stay in the best shape for our guests. We do have workshops specifically for kids, so feel free to bring them to a kids workshop. Please keep in mind our stools are 30" so make sure your little ones can safely sit and stay on a taller stool.
DO YOU PROVIDE REFUNDS?
Due to the preparation required and custom nature of our workshops, we do not provide refunds if you are unable to attend the workshop you registered for. However, store credit is given to you for a future workshop. We also do not provide refunds if your sign did not turn out how you intended due to the custom nature of our workshops. The design is in the control of the customer, but if a true mishap happens (i.e. paint spills all over your board!) we will of course provide you with materials to create a sign you love!
DO I NEED TO PRE-REGISTER OR CAN I DROP IN?
At this time, we do not provide drop in workshops, so pre-registration is required so we can staff appropriately and prepare everyone's materials. Please go to "Book a Class" to register for a workshop.
HOW LONG WILL THE WORKSHOP LAST? WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Our workshops last between 2-3 hours. We start promptly at the time listed with an introduction and demonstration. You are then free to start your project. While you wait for stain or paint to dry, feel free to socialize, snack and shop our retail area! The instructor will frequently check everyone's projects to make sure each project is going smoothly and assist those that need help. Once you are done with your project, you can take it home with you that same day.
BUT I'M NOT CRAFTY OR ARTISTIC!
You don't need to be! We want you to come to our workshop for a much needed break, to relax and have fun with friends. The one thing we stress the most is to JUST HAVE FUN! The projects we choose are great for beginners or experienced alike. Plus, the instructor is there to guide you through your project.
CAN I SIT BY MY FRIENDS?
Yes! To do so, please leave a note when you register with the name(s) of those you would like to sit by. Depending on when you register and other participants, please note seating together is not always guaranteed.
CAN I BRING MY OWN DRINKS OR FOOD?
For all pre-registered events, which are considered private events not open to the general public during the time of the workshop, we do permit BYOB and you may bring your own snacks. We do also have non-alcoholic beverages and prepackaged snacks available for sale in the studio. Please note alcoholic beverages are not permitted for Open Paint events in which our doors are open to drop ins and the general public. These would be our Open Paint events that do not require registration.
DO YOU CREATE CUSTOM DESIGNS?
For our workshops, we have hundreds of designs to choose from and hope that there will be something for everyone. Sometimes, that isn't the case, and a customer would like a custom design. In that situation, we would consider making a custom design, but a design fee between $10-50 would apply depending on the difficulty of the design.
DO YOU SELL ALREADY MADE SIGNS & GIFT CARDS?
Yes we do! We even ship all over the USA. If you see a design in our gallery that you would like made and sent to you or a friend or family member, please contact us. We are working on our 'shop' section of our website so customers can purchase directly through the site, but until then, please contact us directly. We do also make custom signs, besides what is listed on our website. Gift cards are also available.
DO YOU HAVE A RETAIL AREA IN YOUR WORKSHOP?
Yes, and it is filled with amazing and affordable gifts and home decor! Be sure to check it out during a workshop or stop in when we are open.
